Canadian Citizenship Applications
Becoming a Canadian citizen is a proud milestone for many newcomers. Citizenship grants you the right to vote, access to a Canadian passport, and full participation in Canadian society.
Basic Eligibility for Canadian Citizenship:
You must have permanent resident status in Canada
You have lived in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years (1,095 days)
You have filed your taxes, if required, for at least 3 years within the 5-year period
You demonstrate adequate knowledge of English or French (if you are between 18 and 54 years old)
You pass a citizenship test on Canadian history, values, institutions, and rights (for applicants 18–54 years old)
You have no unfulfilled conditions related to your permanent resident status or serious criminal prohibitions
Once approved, you will be invited to a citizenship ceremony, where you will take the Oath of Citizenship and officially become a Canadian citizen.
